Departing from Tangier

Six days from Tangier to the Sahara is the definitive northern Morocco experience: you start where Africa begins (or ends, depending on your direction) and travel the full length of the country to the Sahara dunes, covering imperial cities, Roman ruins, mountain passes and date-palm oases on the way. The route from Tangier to Merzouga crosses more than 1,500km of Moroccan landscape, all at a private pace in your own vehicle.

From the ferry terminal or Tangier airport, the first days move through Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes and Fes — four days of northern Morocco’s historical depth. By Day 5 you’re descending through the Middle Atlas cedar forests toward the desert plateau, and Day 6 delivers you to the rose dunes of Erg Chebbi at Merzouga for a sunset camel trek and overnight in a private desert camp.

This tour is particularly well-suited to travellers arriving in Morocco by ferry from Spain and wanting to experience the country from its northernmost point to its southern desert edge. All accommodation (riads in medinas, mountain lodge, desert camp), breakfasts, dinners, camel trek and private vehicle are included. Request a quote for your dates.
