Departing from Marrakech

The Ourika Valley is 60km south of Marrakech — less than an hour by private vehicle through the outer suburbs and into the first High Atlas foothills. It is the closest mountain landscape to the city, and the contrast with the medina is striking: cool stream water, terraced barley fields, Berber market stalls, and the Atlas peaks visible above the valley walls within 45 minutes of Djemaa el-Fna.

The valley follows the Ourika River upstream from the village of Aghbalou to the Setti Fatma waterfalls at 1,500m altitude. Seven waterfalls can be reached by a 45-minute hike above the village — straightforward but steep in places. The Ourika Valley also has a good Saturday Berber market at the village of Aghbalou, worth timing a visit around if your schedule allows.

A full-day Ourika excursion from Marrakech typically includes a Berber lunch at a valley-side restaurant (tagine cooked over wood fire), the waterfalls hike, and a visit to a local argan or herb cooperative on the return. Your driver-guide manages the route and timing. Return to Marrakech by late afternoon. Request a quote.
