How many days do you need in Morocco?
Matching trip length to how much of the country you actually want to see.
This private 2-day Marrakech tour extension swings north to Morocco's Atlantic capitals, providing an in-depth introduction to Casablanca and Rabat. We discover the finest of Casablanca, home to the Hassan II Mosque, then explore prominent Rabat sights including the Hassan Tower, Mohammed V's Mausoleum, and the Udayas Kasbah. To pair this northern loop with a Sahara crossing, browse our Morocco desert tours from Casablanca or contact us to combine both itineraries.
Leaving your hotel or riad in Marrakech, we drive you to Casablanca and visit the city's main landmarks, including United Nations Square, the Central Market and the Royal Palace. In the afternoon, we head to the famous Hassan II Mosque and stroll along the Corniche, lined with cafés and restaurants. We then continue to Rabat, Morocco's capital, for a free evening and overnight stay at a nearby riad.
Today we explore the best of Rabat — a modern city full of wonderful historical attractions. We visit the Kasbah of the Udayas, the local museum and the Royal Palace, then continue to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V before walking down to the Atlantic shoreline. We also see the Hassan Tower during our Rabat tour. Afterwards, we drive you back to your accommodation in Marrakech. At Local Morocco Tours, we will do everything we can to tailor a holiday in Morocco that is perfect for you, your family, your friends or your group.
English, Spanish, French, and more languages are available upon request.
We depart from your hotel at your requested time — usually at 8:00 am. Let us know how many people are travelling, your travel date, and the accommodation category: standard or luxury.
Casablanca and Rabat are both north of Marrakech along the Atlantic coast — Casablanca 240km by road, Rabat another 90km beyond that. A two-day private tour from Marrakech makes this circuit practical: you drive north on Day 1, visit the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca (Africa’s largest, open to non-Muslims), continue to Rabat for the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas, and overnight in the capital.
Day 2 is free for Rabat’s medina and the Chellah necropolis before your private driver returns you to Marrakech by evening. The return journey can divert through El Jadida to visit the Portuguese Manueline cistern (UNESCO), adding one of Morocco’s most unusual architectural stops without significantly lengthening the route.
This tour is particularly useful for travellers who arrive in Morocco via Marrakech but want to see the Atlantic coast cities before flying home from Casablanca. Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Marrakech on Day 1 and return to Marrakech on Day 2 — or drop-off at Casablanca airport on request. Request a quote to confirm your itinerary.
Two days is the right amount of time to see the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca and the main monuments of Rabat — Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum and the Udayas Kasbah — without rushing the drive back to Marrakech.
Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Marrakech, a private air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking driver, fuel and one night's accommodation in Casablanca or Rabat. Meals and entry tickets are not included.
Yes — distances are short, the highway is excellent and both cities are easy to walk with kids. The Hassan II Mosque guided tour is a hit with older children; booster seats can be added on request.
Absolutely. Most travellers add a 3- or 4-day Merzouga loop after Rabat, finishing back in Marrakech. Send us your dates and we'll merge both itineraries into one private package.
