Departing from Casablanca

Chefchaouen is 340km north of Casablanca — about four and a half hours by private vehicle via the Atlantic coast road or the A1-A4 motorway. Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel or Mohamed V Airport in the morning, and the drive north takes you out of the flat coastal belt and into the foothills of the Rif Mountains, where the landscape becomes progressively greener and cooler as you gain altitude.

Arriving in Chefchaouen by early afternoon gives you several hours in the blue medina before sunset — the best light for the famous blue-painted lanes and mountain backdrop. The evening is free to explore the main plaza, try the local lamb or goat tagine, and walk the quiet residential quarters away from the souvenir shops. Overnight in a small riad or mountain guesthouse in the medina.

The following day is at your own pace in Chefchaouen before your private driver returns you to Casablanca by evening. Alternatively, extend to Fes, continue to Rabat, or add a third day.
