Choosing your trek

2-day or 3-day Toubkal trek?

Both of our Toubkal treks start in Imlil (1,740 m), a Berber village about 65 km — roughly 90 minutes by private vehicle — south of Marrakech, and both sleep at the Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m) before a pre-dawn push to the 4,167 m summit.

The 2-day Toubkal trek climbs to the refuge on day one and reaches the summit at first light on day two — around 2,400 m of total ascent. It suits hikers with a solid base fitness who are short on time.

The 3-day Toubkal trek adds a night lower in the mountains before the refuge, giving your body time to adjust to the altitude. It is the itinerary we recommend for most first-time high-altitude trekkers.

On both treks, a private mountain guide, a cook, mules, mountain accommodation, meals on the trek and return transfers from Marrakech are included. From April to October the route is a non-technical hike; in winter the summit is snow and ice, and crampons and an ice axe are required — we provide them. Prefer gentler village walks to a summit?
