Chefchaouen in a day: the blue city guide
What to see in the blue city, and how long is genuinely enough.
Few Morocco tours from Casablanca pack as much variety into 3 days as this private route to the Chefchaouen blue city and the Fes medina. With a Rabat stop on day one, an unhurried afternoon among the blue lanes, and a guided morning through Fes el-Bali, this is one of our most loved tours from Casablanca — comfortable transfers included and every step led by a local driver-guide who knows the shortcuts, the storytellers and the best mint tea.
During your private Morocco tour, which will begin and end in Casablanca, you will visit some of the country's most famous landmarks and destinations. After being picked up from your hotel, our journey begins towards Rabat, the capital of Morocco, where we will explore the city's main landmarks and historical sites. Afterwards, we head to the Rif Mountains town of Ouazane before concluding the day in the captivating Chefchaouen blue city. Known for its blue and white painted houses and charming streets, we will immerse ourselves in the medina's beauty. Join us for a 3-day excursion to Chefchaouen and Fes, featuring overnight stays in a cosy riad for an unforgettable experience.
Today's itinerary takes us to Meknes and Fes via Ouazane, where you will have leisure time to explore the renowned UNESCO-designated medinas. Local Morocco Tours presents a 3-day tour to Chefchaouen and Fes, offering an immersive experience in these culturally rich destinations.
Today, our exploration takes us through the vibrant medina of Fes, showcasing the finest historical sites, UNESCO landmarks, and renowned tanneries. After the guided tour, we ensure your safe return to your hotel in Casablanca. Local Morocco Tours would happily organise an authentic private Morocco tour for you and your friends, family, or any group departing from Casablanca.

Heading north from Casablanca to Chefchaouen and Fes puts Morocco’s most atmospheric destinations at the start of your journey. The 330km drive from Casablanca to Chefchaouen winds through the Rif foothills via Larache, taking four to five hours by private vehicle. Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel or the airport, and you arrive in the Blue City with enough afternoon light to explore the winding blue alleys of the medina.
Chefchaouen’s cobalt-painted streets look completely different from anything in southern Morocco — the cool Rif Mountain air, the Andalusian architectural legacy, and the distinct pace of mountain life create an ideal contrast to the desert tours many visitors combine this route with. After one or two nights, the road east to Fes passes through Ouazzane before crossing the agricultural plains of the Saiss.
Fes el-Bali — the 9th-century walled medina and UNESCO World Heritage Site — is the natural endpoint for this northern circuit. Two days in Fes gives enough time for the tanneries, the Medersa Bou Inania, the spice souk, and a guided walk through lanes unchanged for centuries. From Fes you can continue south to the Sahara or fly home directly. Request a quote to lock in your dates.
About 5 to 6 hours direct. Our Morocco tours from Casablanca break that drive with stops on the way. Day 1 ends with the overnight in Chefchaouen, day 2 transfers to Fes (around 4 hours) with the imperial medina visit, day 3 is the return to Casablanca.
